I moved to Durango in June of 2021 from Summit County Colorado, where I lived since 1997. I am definitely drawn to the small, mountain town vibe. I love to climb, hike, ski and hunt in the backcountry, and can’t wait to explore this area. Motorcycles are also a passion of mine. These are just some of the reasons why I moved here!
My first career was as a Chef and Ice Carver and after 35 years in food and beverage, which is a hands-on, artistic profession similar to barbering, I decided to change my career. Part of my inspiration for this change was my father, who relocated to the US in 1957 from Italy and changed his profession from tax collector to Barber. Back in the day, He opened his own shop in New Jersey; very much like my shop.
As a licensed Barber, my duties included – Cleaning and sterilize scissors, combs, clippers and other instruments, cut and trim hair according to clients’ instructions and/or current hairstyles. Perform all aspects of barbering in a traditional barber shop. Traditional haircuts to classic pompadours, bald fades, straight razor shaves and full beard trims.
Barbering has been one of my greatest accomplishments. I am able to stay engaged and fill my artistic skills throughout the day by creating a verity of cuts.
Using clippers, combs, hand-held blow driers, and scissors, razor and drape protective cloths around customer’s shoulders. I also stay informed of the latest styles and haircuts.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you! – Joe Damonte
